Crypto Whales Boost Holdings of These 3 Altcoins

Published

on

The first week of July has been a difficult one for the market. But amid the growing sell-offs, crypto whales loaded their wallets with some altcoins that some may term undervalued.

Whales are large investors, and their influence on price cannot be underestimated. Therefore, market participants may need to keep an eye on Dogecoin (DOGE), Optimism (OP), and Pepe (PEPE), as they are among the altcoins crypto whales bought this week.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Large Holders Overlook The Decline

Like other cryptocurrencies, the price of DOGE tumbled. Specifically, the value has dropped by 23.76% in the last seven days.

However, this did not stop crypto whales from buying more of the coin. BeInCrypto observes this after evaluating the Large Holders Inflow shown by IntoTheBlock.

This inflow shows strong buying activity by market participants who hold between 0.1% to 1% of the cryptocurrency.  On Tuesday, July 2, the inflow was 61.88 million DOGE.

But one day later, the inflow reached 516.08 million, suggesting that whales were buying the dip. Currently, the figure has decreased to 215.90 million.

At an average price of $0.11, crypto whales bought $23.74 million worth of Dogecoin in the first week of July. This is a 175.44% increase from the holdings in the last week of June.

Optimism (OP) Whales Ignore the Unlocks, Bullish About the ETF

Second on this list is OP, the token of the layer-two blockchain built on Ethereum.  This week, OP’s price has fallen by 27.82%. Apart from the broader market decline, OP’s decline can be linked to the series of token unlocks between July 1 and 5.

While the unlocks put selling pressure on the price, crypto whales decided to scoop the token at discount prices.

According to Santiment, whales hodling between 1 million to 10 million OP added to their balance in the first week of this month. As a result, this cohort now holds 11.27% of the total OP  supply.

The decision seems to be largely due to the upcoming Ethereum ETF approval. For most market participants, the official trading of the products may raise ETH prices.

Since ETH shares a strong correlation with OP, whales deem it fit to buy the token lower before the potential rally begins.

Whales Put Pepe (PEPE) At the Top of the Chain

A look at PEPE’s Large Holder Netflow shows a staggering 2237.18% increase in the last seven days. This means the crypto whales buying PEPE outpaced those selling it by the abovementioned ratio.

Despite intensifying their purchase, the accumulation has had little to no effect on PEPE’s price. At press time, PEPE trades at $0.0000078— the lowest price it has hit since May 4.

If these large investors continue to buy the token as the price dips, stability may eventually appear.

However, considering the current market condition, whale accumulation alone may not be enough to prevent prices from further declining. This is because Bitcoin (BTC) seems to be the crypto dragging the market back

Should BTC fail to stop its correction, DOGE, OP, and PEPE may continue to face downward pressure. However, a rebound for the number one cryptocurrency may prevent another nosedive.

Kraken Eyes Token Expansion as Trump Promises Crypto Support

Published

on

Kraken, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced plans to list 19 new tokens, including a range of popular meme coins, and to integrate three additional blockchains.

This development has sparked optimism across the crypto industry, with many anticipating a more favorable environment for token listings under the incoming Trump administration.

Kraken Plans to List 19 Tokens and Integrate 3 Blockchains

According to its recently published tradeable asset roadmap, Kraken will add the Binance Smart Chain, dYdX, and Arweave blockchains to its platform. Each integration will include support for the native tokens of these networks.

“Kraken lists BNB,” Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated.

In addition to these three, Kraken plans to list 16 other tokens, primarily meme coins. Some of the notable additions include FWOG, TRUMP, NEIRO, DOGS, GOAT, PNUT, MOODENG, and COW, alongside eight others. These tokens belong to blockchains already integrated into Kraken’s ecosystem.

However, the exchange clarified that listing plans are not guaranteed. Funding and trading for these tokens will only begin after an official announcement through Kraken Pro’s account on X. The company warned that Depositing tokens prematurely could result in losses.

Kraken’s planned token expansion comes at a time when the exchange is navigating legal challenges. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accused Kraken of operating an unregistered securities exchange and offering staking services in violation of federal laws. The exchange has been actively defending itself against these allegations.

Despite regulatory hurdles, crypto industry stakeholders are optimistic that the incoming administration will ease restrictions on token listings. Many believe President-elect Trump’s pro-crypto stance could pave the way for a more supportive regulatory environment. Expectations include a clear regulatory framework, the potential establishment of a Bitcoin reserve, and a departure from the SEC’s regulation-by-enforcement approach.

Already, major US exchanges are capitalizing on the growing market optimism to expand their token listings. Coinbase recently listed PEPE and FLOKI, leveraging the ongoing meme coin trend.

Similarly, Robinhood expanded its offerings by adding tokens that the SEC previously described as securities — XRP, Cardano, and Solana. These moves reflect a broader effort by exchanges to capture market momentum and cater to diverse investor interests.

Why BTC Miners Are Selling Their Coins

Published

on

Bitcoin miners have been actively reducing their holdings in recent weeks as the coin’s price continues to hover below the critical $100,000 mark. At press time, the leading coin trades at $98,535, noting a 1% decline from its all-time high of $99,860 recorded during Friday session.

As the BTC market begins to trend sideways, its miners may be prompted to further distribute their holdings for profit or to offset growing mining costs.

Bitcoin Miners Sell Their Holdings

According to CryptoQuant’s data, Bitcoin’s miner reserve has fallen to its lowest level since the beginning of the year. As of this writing, it sits at 1.81 million BTC.

This metric tracks the number of coins held in miners’ wallets. It represents the coin reserves miners have yet to sell. A decline in the BTC miner reserve indicates that miners on the Bitcoin network are distributing their coins either to take profits or to cover mining-related costs.

Moreover, readings from BTC’s miner netflow confirm the daily trend of coin sell-offs by the network’s miners. As of this writing, the metric’s value is negative at -1,172 BTC.

Miner netflow refers to the net amount of Bitcoin that miners are buying or selling. It is calculated by subtracting the amount of Bitcoin miners are selling from the amount they are buying. When it is negative, it indicates that miners are selling more coins than they are buying. This is often a bearish signal and a precursor to a short-term downward trend in the coin’s price.

BTC Price Prediction: The Bulls Remain in Control

While BTC miners have added to the coin’s selling pressure over the past few weeks, the bullish bias toward the king coin remains significant. This is reflected in the positioning of the dots that make up its Parabolic Stop and Reverse (SAR) indicator. As of this writing, these dots rest below BTC’s price.

The Parabolic SAR identifies an asset’s trend direction and potential reversal points. When its dots are positioned under the asset’s price, it suggests a bullish trend. Traders interpret this as a signal to go long and exit short positions.

If this trend persists, BTC’s price will reclaim its all-time high of $99,860 and may rally past the $100,000 psychological barrier. On the other hand, a spike in profit-taking activity will invalidate this bullish outlook. If buying pressure weakens, BTC’s price may drop to $88,986.

Solana Sees Surge in Meme Coin Activity and Rising Fees

Published

on

The Solana blockchain is witnessing a surge in activity due to a growing frenzy around meme coins.

This wave of enthusiasm has boosted network usage and pushed transaction fees to their highest levels in over a year.

Solana Meme Coin Hype Drives Network Fees and Adoption

Recent weeks have seen meme coin activity rebound, fueled by a broader crypto rally led by major assets like Bitcoin. This resurgence has significantly increased transaction volumes on Solana, leading to higher fees. According to Cryptorank, Solana’s transaction fees reached $0.15 this month, doubling October’s $0.08 and marking the highest level in a year.

Data from DeFiLlama suggest that these rising network fees have contributed significantly to Solana earning approximately $78.14 million in fees over the past week, placing it among the most profitable networks. It ranked just below Tether’s $93.57 million but far outpaced Ethereum, which earned $40.9 million in the same period.

Beyond the core network, Solana-based decentralized applications (dApps) have also seen a surge in activity and fees. Platforms like Raydium, Jito, Pump.fun, and Photon have played key roles in this upswing, with Pump.fun and Photon leveraging the meme coin buzz for significant traction.

However, a crypto researcher at 1kx Network, Wei Dai cautioned that Solana’s rising activity could lead to congestion. He noted that prolonged congestion often leads to higher minimum fees, potentially pushing dApps and users away — a scenario Ethereum experienced during the DeFi boom four years ago.

Nevertheless, Dai conceded that Solana’s current congestion is mostly limited to short-term spikes, allowing patient users to process low-cost transactions still. Yet, he warned this balance might shift unless the network’s infrastructure evolves to handle growing demand effectively.

“Congestion on Solana is ‘bursty.’ Right now, users can still get payment transactions through with minimal fees with a short delay. However, this could change as demand increases, unless Solana tech stack improves to stay ahead of demand,” Dai added.

Meanwhile, this activity spike coincides with Solana achieving new price milestones. Over the past week, SOL’s price rose by nearly 20% to a new all-time high of $263, making it one of the best-performing digital assets since Donald Trump’s election victory on November 5.
